Powerhouse Project Kicks Off, Cranes Move In
The event featured Alliant Energy Chair, President, and CEO Patricia Kampling, Principal and Founder of Studio Gang Architects Jeanne Gang, and College President Scott Bierman, who recognized the founding visionaries of the project, including local businesswoman and trustee Diane Hendricks, who was in attendance.
Because of their support, and the extraordinary generosity of nearly 1,000 additional donors, the Powerhouse will be a first-of-its-kind, integrated gathering space for Beloit, and a landmark building that demonstrates the sustainable, adaptive reuse of a former power plant. At press time, design development was underway on the project, and cranes and trucks were on the property to start removing unwanted equipment. The Powerhouse remains on schedule to open for students in the fall of 2019.
